Deep garnet/ruby in appearance and showing some developed aromas of stewed berry fruits, earth, silt and sand with a little citrus rind. Air brings out a more youthful quality, vaporous blue/black fruits, creamy oak and a frame of raspberry and strawberry fruit. The palate is really quite tantalising and energetic which adds to a sense of intensity and focus; there are some lovely black cherry fruit flavours but the whole is more mineral and savoury. This clearly has a long life ahead.
